%T Towards the Ambient Classroom: An Environment for Enhancing Collaborative Educational Processes
%X With the rapid development of mobile technologies like, e.g., RFID tags, smartphones, and tablets, ambient intelligence applications have gained a huge popularity in recent years.
However, most of the existing approaches aim at developing ambient environments that are rather static, and do not take the aspect of social interaction between the inhabitants into account. We argue that this is essential for smart classrooms, meeting rooms and other environments that are strictly based on mechanisms of human face-to-face interactions. In the context of the smart university, we propose the ambient classroom system for enhancing collaborative educational processes using sensor fusion, data mining, semantic technologies, and inference methods.
