Step 5: More basic functions and terms#

This page is part of the tutorial First Steps. You can choose to follow the tutorial or to read just this article.

Tags
It shows the most frequented tags of the PUMA-users. The bigger a tag is displayed, the more often it is used by the community. Also the Home-page contains this tagcloud. A click on one of the tags leads to a list of all the bookmarks and publications, which were tagged like that.
Relations
are content-related connections among tags. They enhance the research. At edit tags, you can connect tags like that, as well as editing or deleting these relations.
Groups
Groups can be founded within the community. This enables summarising entries of joined users or to make them accessible just by members. They also ease the communication among users, who share interests.
Friends
You can add "friends" to your friends list. This function allows you to gather bookmarks and publication-entries cooperatively. The myFriends-page shows entries, only visable for friends. Also you can manage your friends list from there.
mySearch
This page provides a search to browse your own collection. Therefor you can pick tags and authors from a list. If you use the and-button, you can select several tags and authors, by holding down the CTRL-button, while clicking. The lower section of the page will display the search results immediately. To refine the search, you may fill some more phrases about title, tags or authors into the text box.
myDocuments
lists your uploaded documents, attached to a publication-entry.

The whole structure of the user interface is described on the interface description help page.

This ends the first steps-tutorial. PUMA provides still a lot more functions, e.g. about importing or exporting data, connecting users or facilitation of working with references. Discover more options by using PUMA or browse in Advanced Features.
