Information was collected on the subjects' attitudes toward 21 selected healthy foods, sociodemographic variables, knowledge about nutrition, and their personality. The results provide information about dimensions of food judgments and a typology of eating habits. An important finding is that eating behavior cannot be predicted directly from attitudes; intervening variables have to be taken into account. Implications of these results for nutritional counseling and preventive medicine are discussed.
