@article{golder2006usage, abstract = {Collaborative tagging describes the process by which many users add metadata in the form of keywords to shared content. Recently, collaborative tagging has grown in popularity on the web, on sites that allow users to tag bookmarks, photographs and other content. In this paper we analyze the structure of collaborative tagging systems as well as their dynamic aspects. Specifically, we discovered regularities in user activity, tag frequencies, kinds of tags used, bursts of popularity in bookmarking and a remarkable stability in the relative proportions of tags within a given URL. We also present a dynamic model of collaborative tagging that predicts these stable patterns and relates them to imitation and shared knowledge.}, author = {Golder, Scott A. and Huberman, Bernardo A.}, doi = {10.1177/0165551506062337}, eprint = {http://jis.sagepub.com/content/32/2/198.full.pdf+html}, interhash = {df675e16fcba9cd0f6afc5c9f2a8a723}, intrahash = {f67d3599f5282425b8e0e5b383d436a0}, journal = {Journal of Information Science}, number = 2, pages = {198-208}, title = {Usage patterns of collaborative tagging systems}, url = {http://jis.sagepub.com/content/32/2/198.abstract}, volume = 32, year = 2006 } @inproceedings{SAS:12, address = {Boston, MA, USA}, author = {Scholz, Christoph and Atzmueller, Martin and Stumme, Gerd}, booktitle = {Proc. Next, these patterns can be applied to extend existing ontologies or semantic networks with new relations. The experiments have been performed with the Simple English Wikipedia and WordNet 1.7. A new algorithm has been devised for automatically generalising the lexical patterns found in the encyclopedia entries. We have found general patterns for the hyperonymy, hyponymy, holonymy and meronymy relations and, using them, we have extracted more than 1200 new relationships that did not appear in WordNet originally. The precision of these relationships ranges between 0.61 and 0.69, depending on the relation.}, address = {Berlin / Heidelberg}, affiliation = {Computer Science Dep., Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, 28049 Madrid Spain}, author = {Ruiz-Casado, Maria and Alfonseca, Enrique and Castells, Pablo}, booktitle = {Natural Language Processing and Information Systems}, doi = {10.1007/11428817_7}, editor = {Montoyo, Andrés and Muñoz, Rafael and Métais, Elisabeth}, file = {ruizcasado2005automatic.pdf:ruizcasado2005automatic.pdf:PDF}, groups = {public}, interhash = {a05c644f18f451dc2bac7c4c97f63ccd}, intrahash = {53d9a5edc19dbc8b20705768b2518fd2}, pages = {233-242}, publisher = {Springer}, series = {Lecture Notes in Computer Science}, timestamp = {2011-02-02 15:55:29}, title = {Automatic Extraction of Semantic Relationships for WordNet by Means of Pattern Learning from Wikipedia}, url = {http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/11428817_7}, username = {dbenz}, volume = 3513, year = 2005 } @article{newman2003social, author = {Newman, MEJ and Park, J.}, interhash = {c074e9640dd0a12bdcb5165afcab5981}, intrahash = {63485bb49644f266dec9a4fddf447fb9}, journal = {Physical Review E}, number = 3, pages = 36122, publisher = {APS}, title = {{Why social networks are different from other types of networks}}, url = {http://scholar.google.de/scholar.bib?q=info:Ep_ADiiiopYJ:scholar.google.com/&output=citation&hl=de&as_sdt=2000&ct=citation&cd=0}, volume = 68, year = 2003 } @article{ScottA._Golder04012006, abstract = {Collaborative tagging describes the process by which many users add metadata in the form of keywords to shared content.
